October 6th class Tom

4th Nov 2025
October was another busy month of events and schoolwork for 6th class.

In English we learned about narrative writing and started our first novel of the year, "I am David". This tied in with our history lessons where we studied World War 2.

We focused on practical maths topics such as lines and angles as well as some fun maths and STEM activities for maths week. More of this can be seen in a previous post.

For Learn Together we worked on the ethics and the environment strand by doing projects on fast fashion and both it's environmental and ethical impact. We also took a look at the role of the Irish president, previous presidents and had some good discussions about the recent presidential election.

Our art lessons had a Halloween theme as we worked on different ways of shading and blending colours using paint, chalk pastels and pencils.

We continued our coaching in GAA, rugby and soccer. We also had a dance session with FKFT. In PE we learned the game of Olympic handball.

Other events included creating mental health bunting to be displayed in Floraville for Skerries Youth Support Services. Congratulations to Sophia who won best drawing for our class.

The highlight of the month and possibly mid-term was our annual One Day Together fundraiser and dress up day and disco on the day we got our holidays. There were some amazing costumes, loads of sweets and it was a fun way to end the midterm.
