Maths week 2025
17th Oct 2025
This past week we had many events to celebrate Maths/STEM week 2025.
On Monday, 6th class took part in STEM activities where they were tasked with building a 2 story structure using a variety of materials. They worked together to build structurally solid buildings out of cocktail sticks, pasta and cards. There were many different designs and creations.
On Tuesday we took part in a nationwide zoom maths quiz. After break, we worked on creating rockets and tested different designs to see if it improved aerodynamics. The class had great fun testing their designs and measuring how far they flew.
We had more zoom webinars and quizzes on Wednesday and Thursday and the class worked together to solve the quizzes and puzzles. We also played maths bingo where the class had to solve maths questions in order to find the number to cross out.
On Wednesday we visited our maths buddies in Aaron's Senior Infants and 6th class showed excellent manners as they played and taught some maths games to the younger class.
Maths week concluded with a maths focused assembly led by Dara who showed examples of how we use maths in our everyday lives as well having some maths riddles for us to solve.
