December 6th class Tom
19th Dec 2025
December was a month full of fun and events.
We looked at our more recent financial history in Ireland and studied the Celtic Tiger and following recession and how it impacted on Ireland. In Learn Together we used our laptop time to research religious winter festivals around the world.
In art we got very creative learned how to paint with watercolour. The class created some amazing winter scenes. We did other art lessons using chalk and oil pastels again.
We had many fun activities both in and out of the classroom during the month including an online music and art workshop with The Ark where the children created instruments.
The class finished their cycling workshops and got to leave the school grounds as they put their safe cycling skills to the test in real life scenarios. We also had a coaching session with Andy from Skerries RFC.
We competed in our final Concern Primary School debate. Congratulations to Rosa who was chairperson for our team, Lauren who the timekeeper and Róisín who worked as a researcher and speech writer for the team.
On Thursday December 11th some of the class went to the Millbank Theatre to see the Pantomime and support some of the children in Bláithín's 6th class who were performing in the panto.
We got in to the festive mood by decorating some gingerbread biscuits, did some winter themed art and both 6th classes competed in a quiz together.
The highlight of our month was performing at the parent's assembly. We put in many hours rehearsing our song and poem and on the day the children performed them both perfectly, much to the applause of those in attendance. We sang "Imagine" by John Lennon which Miles played on the piano and performed a poem called "The last day of term" which featured all the children's names.
We enjoyed hot chocolate, sweets and relaxed with a movie before leaving for a well earned Winter break after what was a busy first term.
