Back to Work !

Second Class has had a great first week back! We jumped right back into work. This week the class have been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10 to help with making quicker estimates. The new primary maths curriculum promotes providing children with playful and engaging learning experiences. Today I set the children the task of estimating how many children were in the whole school today. The children set off in groups asking each class how many children were in their class that day. They would then round the number to the nearest 10. This allowed them to add up rounded numbers easily to get a rough estimate on how many students attended school today. There were about 330 children in Skerries Educate Together today!
