There was great excitement on Tuesday when we had a visit from local author and creator of the Darkmouth and Boot books, Shane Hegarty. Jennie's 3rd/4th class joined us as Shane spoke about how he used local places and people as inspiration for his books. This was particularly useful as the children have been writing short stories this week as part of their homework for our annual short story competition. Shane explained some of the characters and storylines from his books and helped the children come up their own characters and ideas. This was an inspiring occasion for the children and we are thankful to Shane for how patient he was with his time. He read extracts from his books, signed autographs and answered some of the questions the children had prepared about his books and writing stories.
