Settling into 5th Class

30th Sep 2025

We’ve had a fantastic start to 5th Class and it’s been a busy month full of learning, creativity and plenty of laughs.

As part of settling into 5th Class, we worked together to create our very own class mantra. We began by discussing the values that matter most to us and agreed on five guiding principles: kindness, focus, collaboration, creativity, and responsibility.

From these shared values, we built a mantra that captures the spirit of our class:

“Kind hearts, sharp minds, bright ideas, right choices = teamwork.”

This mantra now hangs proudly in our room as a daily reminder of the positive, supportive and hard-working community we are building together.

In Art, we turned our attention to self-portraits. Everyone worked carefully to capture their unique features and personalities and the finished pieces look incredible displayed together on our gallery wall. It’s already one of the highlights of our classroom!

In History, we’ve been exploring the 1916 Rising. The children really enjoyed stepping into the shoes of people from the past by writing diary entries that captured the emotions and challenges of the time. To deepen our understanding, we also created colourful and informative posters, which helped us to connect with this important part of Irish history in a hands-on way.

It’s been a wonderful month of settling in, learning new things, and working together. We can’t wait to see what next month will bring!
