Art day
12th Jun 2025
We held our annual Art day on Wednesday June 4th. This year we worked on different forms of art as our classroom was turned in to an art studio for the day.
The first activity was a fabric weaving workshop with our creative schools art instructor, Gabi. The children worked with fabric to weave a piece of art.
Our next activity tested the children's creative minds as we did a few "complete the drawing" activities. The children were given basic shapes as a starting point and asked to finish the picture. It was great to see the many different ideas and interpretations and how each child drew their own unique picture.
After lunch we worked with clay as the children created their own piece of art. We painted these a few days later once they had dried.
Out final activity was paper maché. The children quickly learned the method and we continued to work on these during the week by adding more layers to form a solid structure. Once dry we painted them and they will form a paper maché hot air balloon.
The children seemed to have a great time and enjoyed the break from the books for a day. All the children showed great teamwork and kindness by sharing materials with each other and tidying up the room after.
