Skerries Educate Together NS Marathon 2018 – Day 37 and final update
Hi everyone,
We are delighted to report that we have reached our destination of Vietnam, ending up in the capital city Hanoi after a journey of 661 km today. This brings our total distance travelled since we left Skerries 36 days ago to a staggering 14,412 km. Some of the children have run more than two marathons (84 km) during this time and the average distance that each child has covered is over 44 km, and they will take home a certificate of achievement marking their participation in the programme. It has been great to see all of the children take on the challenge with such enthusiasm and energy, and we hope that it has been a positive experience for all of the families in the school.
A huge word of thanks has to go to all of the teachers and SNAs who implemented the programme each day, it simply couldn’t have happened without their support and dedication. It was great to watch their encouragement of the children each step of the way (and they clocked up a significant number of kilometres themselves).
We plan to revisit the initiative in the third term next year (destination unknown at this point) and in the meantime we hope that you all manage to keep active and healthy over the summer.
