Important Information Talks
17th January 2013.
Dear Parents,
I am writing to let you know about two public talks that are taking place in the near future that I think will be of interest to you. The talks are being supported by all the schools in Skerries, with each school making a financial contribution to subsidise the cost of the second talk. These talks we feel would be particularly relevant for parents of children from second class to sixth class.
Free:- Internet Safety Talk for Parents on Wednesday January 23rd in Skerries Community Centre from 8-9.30pm.
This talk will be given by Darren Dunwoody from Microsoft Ireland and will focus on internet safety advice for parents. A community Garda will speak about the legal aspects of cyber-bullying offences and there will hands-on demonstration for parents on how to adjust settings in devices (PCs, Laptops, Smartphones…) to make them safer for children.
David Coleman, Clinical Psychologist, ‘Bullying and How to Stop it’
Thursday Feb 7th in Skerries Community Centre from 8-9.45pm,

This talk will discuss the signs of Bullying, explore the causes of it and present ways to address it within the context of family, school and community. Research on cyber-bullying and ways to deal with it will be included.
Both talks start at 8pm sharp. We strongly encourage parents to attend these talks if at all possible.
Yours sincerely,
