Gerard the guillemot
First class had a very exciting trip to the beach on Thursday 9th June.
We explored the rockpools around the harbour with the help of Johnny and John from the Irish Seal Sanctuary.
We had a very dramatic rescue of Gerard the guillemot who we found dangling upside down by fishing line off the pier.
Johnny and John used great ingenuity to rescue poor Gerard and they managed to remove him from his awful hanging position.
Gerard seemed unaffected by his ordeal and was last seen paddling away happily.
Well done Johnny and John and thank you for our interesting day out of school!
