You, me and every parent at our school is part of the Parents’ Association. A smaller number of us are in the committee — and we are here to represent you, and to listen! We are always looking for new members and volunteers. If you’d like to help out, let us know — you can do as little or as much as you like. Even if you can only take part in a minor way, your contribution is welcome!
How do I get involved?
The PA is as much about building a community of parents as it is about organising events and fundraising. We have regular meetings in Joe May’s and social events too. It’s great craic, so come along and join the fun! Submit a comment to our suggestion box below and we’ll get back to you, or visit the group on Facebook, and click Join Group to get started!
The PA in the community
Our kids are at the heart of what we do, and we want our school to be at the centre of Skerries community too. We joined other local groups down on Strand Street recently for family fun on the day of the Rás, raising a few bob with our popcorn stall and face painting, but also raising the profile of Skerries Educate Together. Fundraising is a big part of what the PA does — amongst other things this year we have had a spring raffle, a cake sale and a sponsored walk, raising over three thousand euro for our school! For more information on fundraising activities and PA events, see our regular newsletters.
The PA and our school
The PA is not just about fundraising — we are here to think about ways we can nurture our children, how we can continue to improve their learning environment, how we can make our school greener. How about an outside classroom as an amazing idea, just one of the exciting projects in the pipeline at the moment — and next year we hope to start work on a new school library!
When we put our talents together we can achieve so much for our school and our children — let’s give them everything they deserve.
